The Foundation recently commissioned
Geraldine McKeown to create a watercolor of our lovely home. She has
painted it as it would have looked at the turn of the century. There is
a limited edition of 300 prints and they are available now for purchase.
There are also a limited number of remarque prints that can be ordered.
The original is hanging over the mantel in our office. Please feel free
to stop by and see how lovely it is.
The print size is 17 X 22 and the price is $79.50 (including tax). Price
for the remarque is $212.00 (including tax) Note cards are also
available. A box of 8 note cards is $9.54 (including tax)
Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation has been in our home at 229 East
Main Street in Elkton for over 5 years. The house we are in was built as
the parsonage for Elkton Methodist Church.
The Elkton Methodist parsonage was built in 1888. Rev. Charles Hill, the
minister at the time, moved into his new home January 30, 1889. William
H. Eder, a church member, designed the home. Eder, David Harvey, and
John Perkins supervised construction. The Ladies Aide Society raised the
money to purchase the lot from Captain Isaac Lort. The 40’ X 150’ lot
cost $600.00 The total cost was $3,500 and at the time it was said to be
“the finest parsonage on the Eastern Shore of Maryland”.
